MERIDIAN, Idaho — Scentsy’s Virtual Rock-A-Thon will completely pay off Big Brothers Big Sisters office building.

Due to the ongoing public health crisis, Scentsy changed their yearly in-person rocking fundraiser to an online and social media event. The virtual event is took place Friday, Sept. 18, to raise funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Southwest Idaho. Despite the pandemic, the event raised a record breaking $273,531.39.

BBBS faced some monumental challenges this year. This includes reimagining their annual gala and cancelling their largest annual fundraiser. The funds donated by Scentsy will completely pay off BBBS’ office building - a building which is a hub for the families, Littles and Bigs in their program. This is where they conduct interviews and match meetings, host trainings and recruitment events, talk with parents while their children occupy themselves with activities in the play space. Also, the administration and oversight of all “matches” happens at this building.  Additionally, this contribution will allow BBBS to divert future mortgage payments into serving more children and families.

“At Scentsy, we’re a family, and we work hard to support families in our community.” said Heidi Thompson, Scentsy’s Co-CEO.  “We believe happy, healthy families build vibrant communities. We believe in the work of the Big Brothers Big Sisters and support their mission of creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We are so excited about this partnership and helping build a bright future for littles.”

The yearly Rock-a-Thon is one part of Scentsy’s generosity platform and summer giving efforts. Employees  spent several weeks donating and stockpiling thousands of school supply items for the “littles” of the BBBS program.

Scentsy donated $210,000 for the Rock-a-Thon and challenged the community to donate additional money for BBBS for a goal of $40,000, which the community far surpassed.

“We know there is work to be done in our community and we are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to defending the potential of every child here in the Treasure Valley,” says CEO Emily Johnson.  “Owning our building communicates a sense of stability to our families and volunteers as we take our program to the next level. We are so thankful to the Scentsy family for making this possible and helping us connect children with their new best friend – the person that will change their life!”

This event was Scentsy’s seventh Rock-a-Thon. For more information visit www.ScentsyRockathon.com.
